Coney Island Brooklyn
Coney Island was once the play ground of those who could afford the subway ride.Coney Island is located in the southwestern part of Brooklyn N.Y. This site was formerly an outer bank island, but became connected to the mainland by landfill, so it's not really an island.
Coney Island is known for it's amusement parks and sandy beaches. It is home of the minor league baseball team, Brooklyn Cyclones and it's world famous Nathan's hot dog stand. Nathan's opened it's doors on Coney Island in 1916 and remains a tourist must have hotdog site to this day. Nathan's is known not only for their great hotdogs but their annual hot eating dog contest held on the 4th of July. Our visit to coney Island was great, we had perfect weather, a beautiful sunny day. The amusement parks where closed but we enjoyed walking on the boardwalk and sipping sangria. The high light of course was eating a Nathan's hotdog and amazing fries!!!http://www.nathansfamous.com

New York Transit Museum
This museum is located underground of a once used subway station. Our tour guide Catherine told us about some of the history of the subway system, such as, it use to be elevated until a 50inch bizzard had people stuck on the train for 24hours, because it could not move through the snow. Steel, stone and back bone is what made our subway system. The subway tracks are fully operational, so be careful they are "electrofied".
The museum has many vintage subway cars to look at, touch and explore, along with old school buses. The vintage advertising signs in the subway cars are amazing to see and read. Movie films where made here, such as The Taking of Pelham One Two There. The museum was a great visit glad we did.

Brooklyn Heights
As we walked through the streets of Brooklyn we saw beautiful brown stone homes, St Ann and Holy Trinity church, which was a gothic design. Brooklyn Heights is known as the borough of churches. We continue to the Promenade which had magnificent views of Manhattan. This is where the Battle of Brooklyn took place in 1776 and where George Washington surrendered.
Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge most loved bridge in the city, opened on May 25,1883.One of the greatest wonders of the world.Designed by the Roebling family it still remains as strong as ever. This bridge is not only for car traveling but pedestrians too. Twice in recent years this bridge played a hugh evacuation role for New Yorkers. First on Sept 11 2011 and again on Aug 14, 2003 during a black out and I had the privilege of crossing over it by foot and the views from the bridge where breathe taking.
